Video Composition Your Goal In Video Composition Is To Allow Your Audience To See, Hear And Feel The World In New Ways!

Artistic Talent ...

Have you ever wondered why certain paintings endure for centuries and become priceless...
While others end up at garage sales?
video composition
The difference mainly hinges on an elusive element called "artistic talent".
Although artistic talent is hard to define...
We do know that it goes far beyond a familiarity with the basic tools of the medium...
In this case... paint, brushes, canvas, etc...
To an ability to use those tools and techniques to create an emotional experience in the viewer.
In video production the understanding of the tools of video making...

  • Cameras,
  • Lenses,
  • Editing,
  • Software etc.,
Is fundamental to success.
But...those who never get beyond this basic understanding...
As essential as it might be...
Seldom distinguish themselves...
And at best...they will be considered "good" technicians.

Growth as a Videographer...

The sequence of growth in a videographer is that he or she first learns and becomes expert in the tools and techniques of videography...
video composition
And masters them to the point of becoming a real expert in their use.
At that point...
He or she will then be able to look beyond the "mechanics" of videography...
To the aesthetics of being able to really express himself or herself visually and create the impact he or she desires on their audience.

But how do you do that...??

It’s in the way you use your tools to setup and execute the scenes so they bring a response from the viewer!!
It’s called... Composition!!

What is "Video Composition"...?

Composition can be defined as...
The arrangement of elements in a scene or sequence which conveys intent, meaning and evokes a specific emotional response in an audience when they view it.

Always try to Create Something Interesting and Meaningful When you Shoot a Scene...

Things such as...
The height of the camera is just one consideration when selecting an angle to shoot the shot.
Try different heights.
You can position the camera left and right as well.
You can move the camera in and out...
Closer or further from subject.
It's okay to try lots of different things to produce a better or more meaningful camera shot.

The rules of composition are violated from time to time by expert videographers...

Resulting in some superb and unique video productions!!
But...
These guys really know what they are doing and what will “work” in their video production!!
